Where else are you going to be able to try so many new and different types of candy? Answer: nowhere. So I brought a sharpie, eleven ziploc bags, and my 40% cast member discount to the World Showcase to buy the most popular candy from each country.
Some countries I was able to ask a salesperson what their favorite candy was, and got that one. The cast members were always very helpful, and it was cool to hear about what kinds of candy were the most popular where they lived. Morrocco was very disappointing because they only had one type of candy. Most of France's candy was stupid expensive, so I bought four different flavors of a tiny chocolate square. USA was weird because they didn't have typical American candy, but random flavors of hard candy. Towards the end, it started sprinkling and we were pressed for time, so I started getting whichever candy looked the best. So for the last third of the showcase, we were running between each country, labeling ziploc bags with each country to prepare for the testing while still on the move.
When I got home, I arranged the candy in a circle that mimicked the World Showcase (because I'm cool and never do weird things). I then took notes and rated each candy on a five star scale. And here are the official ratings:
1) Canada - Mirage - 5 stars
-Milk chocolate with air bubbles
-My favorite out of all of them (I've bought it since then)
2) United Kingdom - Aero - 4 stars
-Milk chocolate with peppermint, with air bubbles
-Tastes like Christmas
3) France - Maxim's - 2 stars
-Caramel - none inside, caramel flavored, nothing special
- Cocoa flavored
-Praline nuggets - decent, my favorite
-Lemon - gross
-Overall tastes like something from a candy jar at someone's house
4) Morrocco - Galil Turkish Delight with Almond - 1 star
-Grossly chewy
-Coated in powdered sugar. Like, I picked one up and it fell everywhere
5) Japan - Koala's March - 2 stars
-Chocolate filled cookies
-Not very flavorful
6) USA - Peppermint Hard Candy - 1 star
-Not very flavorful, flavor is gone before you can chew it
7) Italy - Baci - 3 stars
-Chocolate with nuts
-There's a fortune in the wrapper, mine said "I have no need of a friend who nods in agreement; my shadow does it better."-I really liked this
8) Germany - Ritler Sport Milk Chocolate with Coconut - 4 stars
-Really big, made into easily splittable pieces
-Good chocolate, flaky coconut, very rich
9) China - Almond Choco Balls - 2 stars
-More almond taste than chocolate
10) Norway - Stratos - 2 stars
-Milk chocolate with bubbles, good chocolate, kind of dry
-Feels weird when you bite into it
11) Mexico - Coconut Bandetas - 2 stars
-Mexican flag coloring pretty cool
-All coconut, kind of chewy
