Every Christmas, sorry, holiday season, Epcot puts on a Candlelight Processional, a show that includes not only the Nativity story, but also music sung by different high school choirs from around the United States. The event is also narrated by a different celebrity each night, including Chandra Wilson, Whoopi Goldberg, America Ferrera, and Amy Grant. Neil Patrick Harris was one of the narrators, and I really really wanted to see him. I tried getting work off, but I couldn't, and the only day I could go was one where I worked almost right after the performance. I decided to risk it because seeing him would be worth it.
The night I went, I was expecting it to be super crowded. Since I went to the second showing of the night, it wasn't as crowded, and although we didn't get a seat, we had first row standing in the back, so we still had a pretty good view (but not a great spot for pictures, sorry posterity). We also had a crazy woman next to us, who whisper-yelled at the people behind us for talking throughout the performance: "I'm trying to listen," hand motions and all.
The show wasn't exactly as I was expecting it to be, although it looked very pretty and the music was beautiful. The Christmas story he told was kind of all over the place and hard to follow, because it jumped from the story of the first Christmas to backgrounds behind the songs being performed. It was super cool to see Neil Patrick Harris though, even though he ended his performance with, "...and, uh, peace on Earth." I also had to sprint out of the park and to the bus to make it to work on time, which I did, because I'm amazing like that. And also I just have great luck with buses.
